Mad Hatter Fashion

Bet you thought I was slacking this week with all those giveaways, didn't you? Well, I sort of did, but I got some work done.

Remember this post where I asked for help with Alice in Wonderland and State flowers? Today is the debut of a couple of the items I came up. First, is Mad Hatter Fashion as I call this ring. A copper hat with a sterling hat tag on a copper band ring. I formed each of the three pieces of the hat separately then soldered them together. The hat tag is stamped with 10/6 just like the Mad Hatter's. This is a formidable ring. Not a single person would miss this if you were wearing it. What do you think?

A little help as I'm debating on backgrounds. Do you like the black background or the grey better?

Now for the state flowers. I chose to do the Sego Lily which is the state flower of Utah first, but there will be more forthcoming. I love lilies, and I particularly loved the lines and shape of this flower. This is also a mixed metal ring, but I'm planning to do earrings as well. There are 3 individual pieces- the triangle shaped petals, the large petals, and the stamen. Each of these was formed then soldered together. The band, again, is copper. I'm thinking of doing this in reverse as well with the flower being sterling and the stamen being copper. This one is not quite completed but will be by the end of the day. I still have some sanding and polishing to do. Just thought you might be interested in seeing an inbetween stage.

The Mad Hatter ring is currently in my shop and the Sego Lily ring will be in the next couple of days. Give a shout and let me know what you think of these. What would you have done differently?

I do have more Alice pieces planned, Laura. I had such fun with this one.

Thanks, koopermom! I just love doing the flower pieces. It's a flower I don't have to worry about killing or dying. :)

I love the flower too! I think it would look great with the two metals together, as you mentioned.

I like the gray too. It makes the ring stand out more :)

I prefer the gray background: it makes the silver pop more. Love the Mad Hatter ring!!

The Mad Hatter ring is fab!

I like the black background...it ties in better with all the dark rock photos in your shop.

(The lily is pretty, too.)

The Mad Hatter ring is fabulous! I definitely like the black background better, too!

The lily ring is shaping up nicely. Great idea to consider doing it in reverse, too!

I couldn't think of a thing I would do differently!

Hi there ! :) Well, A fashion designer..(if you are really really good you would not have to sew, I would think..) :) and somehow, I imagine you have sketched a few pieces of clothes in your time :)

What an awesome career wish for a day :)... it ties in strongly to the great work you do now.

MMM the background...well, we all expect black...as that is the norm it seems. So I was quite "surprised" and pleasantly so to see how well the ring showed up on the gray. I cannot say that I truly prefer on over the other.

The hat itself, with the little card tucked in ...
is, fascinating!And utterly delightful!

I cannot wait to see more of the ring...

These rings are so cool!! The Mad Hatter (so original, a trademark for your work!) looks just great with both backgrounds (can't decide which...) and I love the state ring. Get around to Illinois, I don't know the state flower but you could do one of Blogojecvic with a big old "X" sign on top!!!

Love ya!

Such originality! I like the black background. Gives it more of a contrast.
