Happy Accidents

celtic sterling silver dangle earrings
Life is all about accidents. Many of them are what I consider happy accidents.

My new earrings are just that.. a happy accident. They started out as ovals. Then after botching and melting one side I saved the design by turning them into these arrows. They were going to have gemstones in the center as well, but I didn't like it that way. So, I cut out the center and turned it back into the original pattern. And, now they are completely perfect. I love them. So simple. So elegant. Perfect with anything.

So.. the moral of today's story is don't sweat the small stuff. Life knows best, and sometimes the best things come from happy accidents.

What do you think?

Jewelry in Review Raw Edition plus Giveaway!

It's been a while since I've done a Jewelry in Review post so maybe it's about time.

This year I've decided to participate in a group on Flickr called Ring A Week. Each week we all make a new ring. You can see all the RAW rings here. It's been a lot of fun, and I've been trying new concepts.

Here's my first RAW ring. It was my first prong setting that I actually made myself. A lot of fun, and a little challenging. I got it though, and I think it looks AH-MAY-ZING! if I do say so myself. It's a prong set ruby and sterling silver band.

My second inclusion in RAW is a fun little ring just in time for Valentine's Day. It's a sterling silver ring featuring pink resin hearts.

Last week's ring was another resin piece. I'm in a resin kind of mood lately. It's a cute little jeweled plum complete with a cubic zirconia and sterling silver leaves.

Am I doing a good job? I'm having fun with it so far. Now I just need to do this week's before I fall behind, and you know if I fall behind I'll never get caught back up.

In other news, I hit my first 100 fans on facebook this week! Woohoo! So, I'm going to do a quick little giveaway in appreciation which we all know I don't do giveaways often. First Rule... This is ONLY for my facebook fans. If you are not a fan, you can fan me here. Just make a comment on this post to be entered. Get 2 entries if you blog or facebook about this and your friends become fans, but make sure they mention you. And, that's it. So what am I giving away? Hmmm. Good question. How about this? You'll get a set of 3 bangles, two of which are in my shop, from my new 2011 Statement Collection. Giveaway will end Wednesday at 11:59pm EST. Winner will be announced on Thursday's blog post.

Miss Jewel's Jewelry in Review

Yesterday I had an argument with a sea turtle so I was not able to blog. I'm still fighting with the turtle, but I will win. Oh, yes. I will triumph.

Now without further adieu....... Miss Jewel's Jewelry in Review...

I have renewed my love affair with stones lately, and this Butterfly Necklace was the first I attempted.

And then came Frida. A delightful sterling jellyfish with a plume agate body and sterling tentacles.

One of my favorite new pieces is this Hibiscus Flower ring. So perfect for the summer.

And to round off our review (I can't tell you everything, can I?!), this ribbon candy bangle which I would so wear with that flower ring.

Check out my etsy shop and my website for a look at all my new pieces. Until next my lovelies!

Creepy Crawly Spiders(it's not what you think)

There once was a creepy crawly spider...

Who really thought herself quite elegant...

And, truth be told, she was...

All adorned in sterling and copper...

She was the queen of spiders...

Not a day went by when she didn't sparkle...

Much to her dismay, no one marveled at her beauty...

That is...

Until one day, Miss Jewel thought her amazing...

And transformed her into a ring....

Where she could be marveled at daily...

The spider queen is now quite happy...

On Etsy..

And soon on jewelstreetdesigns.com..

But take her home with you and see how happy she would be to live happily ever after with you!

Limited Edition Artisan Holiday

November has arrived! This means Thanksgiving, colder weather for some of us, football, and one month closer to the holidays. Yep. You heard right we are that much closer to the holiday season.

I have been inspired by this upcoming time of year and created a few Limited Edition items. These are items that will only be seen for a few months then will no longer be available even to custom orders.

The first of this year's series of ornaments...

A shabby chic copper photo ornament. Each ring in this ornament has been handformed from scratch. The bezel is also created from copper, and everything has been give a light patina. Can you tell I'm in a patina phase? Each year you can change the photo to show the growth of your child or grandchild or even your pet. It would also be lovely to commemorate a loved one. I had a fabulous idea that it would be lovely to hang on the tree with a white ribbon, but I couldn't find one to show you.

A favorite of mine....

The sad snowman pin. A solid sterling silver pin/brooch fashioned into a snowman with sterling silver twig arms. He is anxiously awaiting his new home. Secretly he hopes it is someplace warm but won't mind the cold as long as he's loved. This snowman will only be available this year. Next year there will be an entirely different themed snowman because I love snowmen. Won't you please take him home and make him a happy snowman?

Remember these items are limited editon, and the designs won't be seen after this year. You can buy them in my shop.

Let me know what you think of these designs. You know I love your feedback and ideas. Plus, I have more limited editions planned and will be able to incorporate the feedback.

Artisan Jewelry Review

Another Sunday has arrived. I had fun with last week's jewelry in review and thought I would do it again. It's a nice way to give you some sneak peeks without taking all the fun out of blogging or visiting my blog. I enjoy showing my creations and getting opinions on them, but I don't want to bore you with that everyday. Besides, I have some fun things to talk about later this week.

So, once again, let's start the Sunday Jewelry Review. (I think that shall be it's name here on out.)

Something hot off the presses for the men- Lines Band Ring. A simple copper and sterling hammered ring.

The Illusion Earrings are a perfect for showing off those lobes when wearing jeans or dressing up.

The Off Center Cuff is another simple piece of man jewelry.

My most favorite bangle ever- Honeycomb Bangle. How sensationally modern is this blue bangle?! It's actually copper that has been patina'd. No two will ever be the same.

And, so concludes this week's jewelry review. There are more new pieces in my shop, but I'm saving those for another day. I'm thinking about doing fashion shows for youtube like this as well. Wouldn't that be fun?! If this is your first time to my blog, make sure you check out my giveaway.

I hope you have a beautiful and awe inspiring day!

A Jewelry Week in Review

It's Sunday. I know, technically, this is the beginning of the week. But, since my life works on a child's school schedule, this is actually the last day of the week. I'm screwed up. I know. You don't even want to hear about how I see a calendar of the months in my head. That's a whole other blog post.

I've been having such fun on other blogs this week what with the Sits blogathon and Vanessa's Halloween Party that I have not had the chance to show you my latest creations. So, today, I thought I would do a week in review

Washed Ashore Earrings are a mixture of copper and sterling in an organic design.

Persuasion Bangle is an Art Deco design in copper. Just perfect for larger hands as well. Has to be one of my all time favorite designs.

In the Shadow of the Toucan Ring is an art and metalsmith piece.

Spinners Earrings is a pair of hoop earrings with red tigers eye dangles. A perfect answer to the fall trends. Also, an experiment in a new polishing technique that worked quite nicely I have to say.

Well, there you have it. My newest listings all in one place. And, don't forget about my giveaway. Let me know what you think.
