You might not know this, but I don't cook. In fact, I haven't cooked in like, hmmm, 6 years. I always said I would marry a man who knew how to cook and liked it. Well, I didn't marry him, but I have him. But...
Last night I cooked. I really truly did. Not quite from scratch, but it's a start. I made a casserole with my few added extras. Then, to top it all, I made blueberry muffins for K for the next morning's breakfast. Unfortunately, I am not good enough to get up in the morning and actually cook them. See how pretty they look in the picture?! They're mini muffins and not just blueberry muffins. No. They're luscious lemon berry muffins complete with icing. I've never made muffins or icing before. I'm quite proud of myself.
Now, don't get me wrong. I know how to cook. I just choose not too. I'm actually quite adept at making pies, pastries, and snack food. (See where my heart lies??) My mother insists I do not know how to cook, but she tries to make me want to. She still believes there's hope for me. Every time there's a present to be given you can bet I'm going to get some kind of cooking tool that I won't use. I just give it to Steve. And, while I have cooked dinner last night, I won't be making a habit of it. Maybe just once or twice a week. No more than that. I am horribly burn prone. Not to mention, I will probably set something on fire.

Blueberry & lemon is a phenom combination & your muffins look yummy... especially the drizzled icing.
Mother's are funny aren't they. Yours is buying you appliances & utensils you'll not use and mine actually asks me on a regular basis what I'm cooking for my husband. LOL. I think they forget they raised daughters in an age where they can choose or not to cook for themselves or the men in their lives. :) I cook in my house but I love to do it... and my husband has no idea how. But I'm totally with you on the baking. There's never too much pie. :)
